Globulation on windows 2000

Post by Mynameisflorian »

I am trying to run globulation 2 on a windows 2000 workstation. The game loads, but only refreshes the screen area about once a minuite and is unusable. My cpu is sitting at about 30% usage during this. The mouse does not respond within the window. I get a "trails" effect if i cover up the window.

i looked in the installation directory and looked at stderr.txt and it contains:
Settings::load("preferences.txt") : error, can't open file.

i can't seem to find this file either -- do i need to create it?

any help would be apreciated,
Florian

i copied all the sdl dlls to the program directory and it works now -- but seems to be using all of my cpu all of the time! My home pc is slower than this one -- but it is ubuntu -- and seems to have no cpu-load problems.

cpu %

If the game is taking too much cpu, you have to verify that in the glob2 settings you have opengl enabled and that you have acceleration on your computer. If you don't have acceleration you should disable opengl from the preferences.
