Re: Add-Ons - Where?

Depends what type of addon, maps, sounds, or features.

Globulation 2 doesn't support feature addons. You have add your code directly to the Globulation 2 source code.

The other two (sound and maps) are in ~/.glob2/ on linux, or c:\program files\globulation 2\ on windows xp.

Re: need help trying to compile with Visual Studio

You should be able to remove the directory at C:\Python25\scons and the menu option (if any).

Re: need help trying to compile with Visual Studio

The output above suggests that the VSC compiler is the one being used (not mingw). I ran into this when I tried VSC once too. You need to uninstall everything and remove the paths from the PATH environment variable, restart the comp, then run it again. MinGW should not be giving you any errors relat...

Re: mingw compilation problem

Everything you need is in the zip file. If it can't find something, either the zip file was unpacked incorrectly, or the install isn't corrrect. I've run through the guide and it appears to still be current (apart from port audio missing which I'll fix later on).

Re: mingw compilation problem

Well as I've said before, it's designed for C:\. Scripts point at C:\. And I'm not reinstalling my OS on G:\ to make it compatible sorry.

If its not a windows specific compilation wanted, you could always download ubuntu, debian, mandriva, opensuse etc etc etc and dual boot. Would be a lot easier.

Re: mingw compilation problem

I have a copy of the MinGW on the computer I'm writing this from. And it runs without any problems. You might try uninstall everything, and follow the guide (Which at quick glance looks up-to-date) from top to bottom, without any variation (exact paths, exact commands, dont jump ahead). Then let me ...

Welcome aboard DDR.

And thank you XOIE for such an awesome site. One of the most feature filled and nicely designed linux gaming sites I've seen in a long time.

Keep up the good work.

Re: mingw compilation problem

You're using the command on the MinGW compilation guide to untar them, or doing it manually?

It should place the files in C:\msys\1.0\local and C:\msys\1.0\bin that are needed for compilation.

(pm me an IM so we can talk in real time or pop onto the IRC channel)

Re: mingw compilation problem

The MinGW installation and use is very path specific (C:\). If you have a different drive (in your case G:\), then you'll have to edit quite a few config paths (/bin/scons and SConstruct are the only ones that comes to mind, but I believe there is at least one more place. As for the prerequisites, i...

Re: Salt

It's not implemented yet. These types of details would probably be worked out eventually if this idea goes ahead. The problem as you stated is they can't be removed easily. If your units attack the ground, instead of enemy units, its a big problem. I guess a system where you have to maintain a close...

Re: Micromanagement and Work Stoppage

Guess what..... beta 4 has just what you need :D It includes new priority controls, which arn't fancy, but effective. They assign workers to a high priority job before a medium, before a low. You can change the priority in the building setting screen. Maybe in beta 5 we might see preset priorities. ...

Re: Help for yog

I should point out that several distrobutions still have packages dating back to the alpha days (~6 months ago). When you run 'glob2 --version' as Giszmo pointed out, make sure the first digits read something like 0.9.x. If you have 0.8.x, those server are no longer active, shutdown months ago. You ...

Re: New Map Concept

Sounds like a fun map. If you're on Linux, try in /home/youname/.glob2/maps/ <- where saved ones go

If you're on Windows, try C:\Program Files\Globulation_2\maps\

Zip it, and attach it to this thread. I'll be happy to take a look :D
