Re: Using WinterDryads terrain+FOW as the default?
voted to use Winter's original work because I like what he's done with FOW, the water, and sand, however the high saturation version of the land is nice too. Perhaps mix and match?

Re: place forbidden area
wait, you hate the new brush that'll allow you to drag the checkered zone? or do you hate the new change were you have to actually select if you want to put down an area vs. remove it? I really hope in beta4 we get a shortcut working, like shift+click will remove while just click puts it down. We'll...

Re: New maps
I haven't played it yet, but opened it up in the map editor and checked it out, looks like a great four player map :). Well balanced, enough room and resources, it's nice. next time a bunch of us are on irc we'll definitely get a four player game going and see what this map has to offer :P . Thanks ...
Re: scons bug
Just as an update, the data/zik problem was an issue with the packaging, it's fixed in the latest mercurial branch that should be released within the next week or two (I'm really excited about it, easily over 100 bug fixes, being rolled with changes to packaging procedures, release procedures, etc. ...

Re: Destroy Ground Instead of Clearing
One way that this can be done is to use the stone walls to keep the path open, works like a charm. you don't even have to actually have them built, as long as you don't mind your enemy being able to easily destroy your path.

Re: anyone want a game?
Yes, hanging around will definitely get you into some games! These past few days I've been able to play over two dozen games with various people, even got a five player game going at one point. That was a challenge

Re: Possible Dead Link
Sorry about that  We have been a bit laxed on our review process of releases before making them official and with Beta2 the source tarball was working (minus the music) and I think one or two other binaries, but other then that we have been lacking maintainers for distribution-specific release...

the awstats website statistics generator was not re-implemented when the website was moved over to the new server and I haven't done enough in the way of permissions on the new one to feel like making the link public yet. When I get more time I'll set it up correctly and then make the page public. F...
I'm glad you find the game fun, I wish I had more time to play and help code rather than school work right now :( but I know more coders are always needed, including new music ;) http://lists.nongnu.org/mailman/listinfo/glob2-devel may I suggest you join that list and maybe read some of the archived...

well, I don't know about a civ-building mode, but I have played games where we have decided to play for the first to win by prestigue and it is very interesting on some of the maps where the resources are limited. Having to properly manage how many units, etc. becomes quite a challenge to balance. I...
